Our History

The story of Constant Spring Primary and Infant School begins in 1973, when our institution first opened its doors as Constant Spring All Age school. Founded out of a genuine community need, the school was established to provide educational opportunities for children in the Cassava Piece area of Kingston 8 who were unable to secure places in other existing schools. This founding principle of inclusion and accessibility would become the cornerstone of our educational philosophy for decades to come. For twenty years, Constant Spring All Age school served its community faithfully, adapting and growing to meet the changing needs of local families. The dedication of our early educators and administrators laid a strong foundation that would support the school through significant transitions and growth periods. During these formative years, the school established itself as a trusted educational institution in St. Andrew parish. A pivotal moment in our history came in 1993 when the school embraced the Ministry of Education's Reform of Secondary Education (R.O.S.E.) initiative. This transition marked our evolution from an All-Age institution to a Primary and Junior High school, allowing us to specialize our programs and better serve our student population. The change reflected our commitment to educational excellence and our willingness to adapt to best serve our community's needs. The most recent chapter in our story began in 2018, when we adopted our current identity as Constant Spring Primary and Infant School. This transformation allowed us to focus specifically on early childhood and primary education, areas where we could maximize our impact on young learners. Today, we proudly serve approximately 420 students in our Primary department and 70 in our Infant department, each child benefiting from our five decades of educational experience. Throughout our journey, we have remained committed to providing not just academic instruction, but comprehensive care for our students. Our tuck shop and canteen facilities ensure that children have access to nutritious meals and snacks, supporting their overall well-being and academic success. As we look toward the future, Constant Spring Primary and Infant School continues to honor its founding mission while embracing innovation and excellence in education.
